Incorporated in 2006 and based in San Francisco, California, it is a bank holding company for LendingClub Bank, National Association.

Lending Club provides a range of financial products and services across North America via a technology-driven platform. This includes various loan services – such as for automobiles, education, industrial purposes, and real estate – as well as personal finance packages. 

In addition, LendingClub operates an online lending marketplace platform that connects borrowers and investors.

The stock has surged in value following its Q2 financial results, which indicated a surprise profit and revenue above the expectations of the major institutions. The company earned $9.4 million ($0.09 per share) in Q2, contrasting with a loss of $78.5 million ($0.87 per share) just a year previously.
