Forex Courses and Videos for Beginners

These reputable forex courses and videos cover forex basics, strategies, risk management, as well as advanced trading tactics.

Forex can be a confusing market. For most beginner forex traders the extent of their foreign exchange experience is swapping one currency for another at the bank before going on a trip. We grow up hearing about the stock market, but most us don’t hear much about the currency market, even though it is by far the biggest market in world.

If you’re interested in forex trading, you’ll need to learn some basics before you even think about trading with real capital. Below are several forex courses, forex videos, and forex resources that will get you understanding the forex market. These courses also provide forex strategies. As you become comfortable with the forex market you can begin practicing trading strategies in a demo account (play money), before taking the step of opening a forex account and trading for real profits with real capital.

Forex Courses and Videos for Beginners

There is loads of information on forex out there. Some of it may be good, and some of it may actually harm your chances of becoming a successful trader. The following forex courses and videos provide great information for free or for a low price.

The Forex Strategies Guide for Day and Swing Traders

This eBook is for people who want to actively trade. It’s for people who want to learn about forex and also learn how to day trade or swing trade (trades that last a couple days to a few weeks).  This course is $49.95.

This is a comprehensive 300 page eBook written by me, Cory Mitchell, CMT.  After trading for more than 13 years (and still going strong), this eBook includes everything you need to know about the forex market to get you practicing trades and ultimately opening a real account to make real money from trading. Learn what the forex market is, how it operates, how to trade it, and how to creat profits while keeping risk low.

The book then progresses to discuss what creates a winning trader, what type of plan and checklists to follow, and how to manage risk on a daily and per trade basis.

How markets move, and how that affects your trading is also addressed, including how to incorporate correlation and volatility analysis into your trading.

Next, we get into day trading and swing trading strategies. There are over 20 strategies you can learn, with explicit details on how to enter, control risk, and when to take profit. You also learn when to take trades and when not to, based on how the market is moving.

Finally, I teach you how to create your own strategies, give you guidance on controlling personal tendencies so these tendencies don’t sabotage your trading, and provide mental exercises you can use to build your disciple and trading success.

Forex Strategies Course For Weekly Charts

This course is for people who want to trade forex in a less time consuming and passive manner, or people who want to increase their day or swing trading earnings without taking up much more time. With this course, we only need to put in out 20 minutes each weekend to find and manage our trades. This Course is $39.95.

This is a powerful course. It includes an eBook as well as several videos. It is recommended that people have read the Forex Strategies Guide for Day and Swing Traders before studying the Weekly Charts Course. The Weekly Charts Course doesn’t cover forex basics, it is specifically focused on providing strategies that produce daily income and capital gains through trading the weekly charts. We gain daily interest because we can position ourselves to be in higher interest rate currencies, and we only take those trades at opportune times which also produces the capital gains.

This course is applicable even to those who don’t want to trade weekly charts. The strategies work on other time frames, and the course covers material not covered in the Forex Strategies Guide.

I also always take the Weekly Chart trades. Trading the weekly charts takes very little time, and is a good way to add an additional revenue stream to your day or swing trading by only spending about 20 minutes per week.

Forex Swing Trading in 20 Minutes Course

The Forex Swing Trading in 20 Minutes Course is a free course I designed to show people the basics of forex trading, as well as provide two powerful strategies they can start using.

Everyone should watch these videos. They provide great advice on swing trading and are a good accompaniment to the Forex Strategies Guide and Weekly Charts Course discussed above.

The course is split up into six components/videos. Watch them in the order listed.

Pairs to Trade and Setting Up Charts – Here is how I set up my forex charts so I can quickly scan through all the forex pairs I follow. With my charts set up in this way, it takes less than 20 minutes a night to scan through all my charts, look for trades, and put out orders in the forex pairs that have valid trade setups based on the strategies I use.

Trade Time Frames and Trend Strategy – This video looks at what time frames I use while swing trading forex, and also one of the trending strategies I use.

Strong Support/Resistance Crotch Trading Strategy – This article and video looks at how to analyze forex pairs using strong support and resistance levels, and then reveals the Crotch Trading Strategy which is based on those strong price levels/areas.

Position Sizing and Risk Management – This video looks at how to manage risk and how to get the correct position size, on every trade, so that you stay within your risk tolerance. In other words, positions are never too small or too large, they are just right.

Setting Profit Targets to Maximize Gains – This video looks at how to fine-tune your profit targets, so you can make big reward:risk trades while still having a good chance of the price reaching that target.

How to Manage Trades Once In Them – This video looks at simple ways to manage your trades once in them. Managing a trade is when you adjust your stop loss or target once you are in the trade. I discuss when this can be done, and when it shouldn’t be done. I also discuss the trade-off between leaving your trades alone and adjusting your stop loss/target.

Longer-Term Forex Fundamental Investing

All the courses above are focused on trades that last minutes to months. Even the Weekly Course trades typically only last a few months.

Currencies tend to have very long trends, though, often lasting years or even a decade. These major trends are driven by how countries are performing, global trade, interest rates, and other fundamental factors. If you are more of a long-term trader, and like to look at how fundamentals are driving prices, my friend Dr. Corvin Codirla’s FX Master Course shows you how to do that. Dr. Cordirla is a former hedge fund manager and long-time trader. The course provides 16 hours of educational content and is $597.

Short-term traders should focus on the courses listed prior. The courses above are primarily focused on technical analysis, which is the only thing that matters on short-term trades. But, if you want to also trade long-term, and understand what actually drives currency prices over the longer-term, then it is worthwhile to check out the FX Master Course.

Are Stocks More Your Thing?

If you more interested stocks, the Stock Market Swing Trading Video Course is a comprehensive course that includes 17 videos and more than 12 hours of instruction on stock market basics, strategies, risk management, when to trade, what to trade, and how to find trades. This is a complete course on swing trading stocks. This course is $179, but the price will increase to $249 at the start of 2018 to reflect the new content has been added since the course was first launched.

Forex Courses and Videos for Beginners – Final Word

Also check out the Tutorials on this site, including Forex Trading Basics, and Forex Trading Strategies. Articles are a great way to accumulate knowledge, unfortunately, an article is a snapshot and not necessarily a complete trading method like those described in the courses above.

When starting out there is a barrage of information; narrow it down and get information from only a few sources. The above sources will provide you with more than enough information about the basics of forex trading. I’ve put my name on my book, and for the small price, I think it is the best information you will find on starting out and getting profitable in the forex market.

My recommendation is to go through the courses in the order listed. The Forex Strategies Guide For Day and Swing Traders provides what you need to get started, the Forex Strategies Course For Weekly Charts adds to your skills and provides another stream of income. The FX Master Course provides yet another stream of income based on longer-term term fundamental trades. The free Forex Swing Trading in 20 Minutes Course can be watched at any time. It too provides additional knowledge but is not as comprehensive as the other courses mentioned.

I learned to trade forex on my own; I read information that was out there but ultimately made my own decisions about how I wanted to trade. I personally tested the methods written about by others, and if they worked I used them, and if they didn’t I tried to find ways to improve the method or cut it loose. I also spend countless hours looking at charts and trying to find better ways to trade. My courses, that I mention above, are the product of more than 12 years of refining methods in this way.
